Root Canal Treatment

A root canal is a treatment used to save a tooth that is infected or damaged by decay. The procedure involves removing the infected or damaged tissue, called the pulp, from inside the tooth, and then cleaning and sealing the inside of the tooth. At Oyster Dental, our team of experienced dentists and staff are dedicated to providing high-quality root canal treatment for our patients.

Symptoms that may indicate the need for a root canal include severe toothache, sensitivity to hot or cold, sensitivity to pressure, and swelling or tenderness in the gums. If left untreated, the infection can spread and cause an abscess, which can lead to serious health problems.

During the root canal procedure, our dentist will numb the area around the tooth to ensure your comfort. A small opening will be made in the top of the tooth, and the infected or damaged pulp will be removed. The inside of the tooth will then be cleaned and sealed to prevent further infection. In most cases, a crown or other restoration will be placed on the tooth to protect it and restore its function.

Root canal treatment is usually completed in one or two appointments. After the procedure, you may experience some discomfort or sensitivity for a short time, but this can be managed with over-the-counter pain medication or prescribed by our dentist.

Regular dental check-ups and good oral hygiene practices can help to prevent the need for root canal treatment. Please contact us to schedule your appointment today and our dentist will evaluate your case and recommend the best course of action for you.
